| BLACK BEAR DINER OPENS NEW LOCATION IN MCALLEN, TEXAS |
Black Bear Diner announced that is has opened the doors to its newest location in McAllen, Texas, at 600 West Expressway 83. This is the third Black Bear Diner location to incorporate updated building features that focus on supporting off-premise business, which includes a vestibule that has a separate pick-up window to accommodate takeout orders and third-party drivers. The modified store layout preserves guests’ great dine-in experience while streamlining the processes for increased off-premise business.

| DOLLAR GENERAL BEATS ON EARNINGS WITH BOOST FROM GROCERY SALES |
Discount retailer Dollar General beat earnings estimates in the second quarter and has lifted its sales outlook for the rest of the year as bargain-hunting shoppers increasingly flock to the growing chain for groceries and other consumables. The company posted earnings per share of $2.98, up 10.8% from a year ago and surpassing Wall Street estimates of $2.39. DG's revenue rose 9% year-over-year for the quarter ending in July to $9.4 billion, matching estimates from analysts surveyed by Refinitiv. |

Jack in the Box is getting a facelift: The San Diego, Calif.-based quick-service chain not only looks different these days with a new purple and red color scheme and refreshed food packaging, but the brand is remixing its drive-thru façade with an upcoming Crave store prototype. “Our new Crave store design brings these colors all to life and is a way modernize and reintroduce the brand to consumers that really will help us stand out in the marketplace.” |

| IKEA U.S. GOES WEST TO EXPAND PLANNING STUDIO CONCEPT |
Ikea is continuing its push to be more accessible and convenient to customers by opening new store formats. The Swedish furniture giant is expanding its Planning Studio format in the Los Angeles area, opening a, 8,000-sq.-ft. location at Long Beach Towne Center, Long Beach, Calif., on Aug. 29. A second outpost, at Westfield Santa Anita Shopping Mall, Arcadia, Calif., will open on August 31st. The two new locations are the first Ikea Planning Studios on the West Coast. |

| SLIM CHICKENS TO EXPAND INTO ARKANSAS, TENESSEE AND GEORGIA |
Fast casual restaurant Slim Chickens announced plans to expand its business by adding eight franchises across Arkansas, Tennessee and Georgia. Multi-unit operating group DHR Group will lead the expansion. DHR Group runs more than 40 Sonic Drive-Ins, and in 2020, it agreed to work with Slim Chickens to expand the Southern chicken brand into Tennessee. “DHR Group is the perfect example of the type of experienced operating group that we love to work with at Slims,” said Jackie Lobdell. |
