Over the past decade, Tampa has made strides in rounding out its local economy, which should greatly improve how it weathers the next economic storm. Of the top ten employers in Tampa, six different industry groups are represented, illustrating the broad strength of Tampa's commercial activities - and their growth continues. St. Joseph’s Hospital is building a $126 million six story tower; BayCare recently announced a $308 million expansion; Tampa International Airport has a $971 million mixed use expansion program; and Publix announced 700 new jobs in 2018 – allowing further support for expansion in Tampa and the Southeast.
