YUM BRANDS STARTS OPENING UNITS AGAIN

Yum Brands' roster of fast-food concepts opened more locations around the globe in the third quarter as international sales picked up and their U.S. sales remained strong. The Louisville, Ky.-based owner of KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and Habit Burger said on Thursday that it opened 760 net new locations in the quarter ended Sept. 30, or about 4%. The brands now operate a combined 52,000 global restaurants.

    
PETCO CREATES EXPERIENTIAL RETAIL FOR DOGS, WITH FIRST REDDY STORE

Petco developed Reddy, a premium dog accessories and clothing brand, with millennial dog owners in mind, the type of customers who are slightly obsessed with their dogs, and who want the best for them. Now, Petco has created the first Reddy store, an experiment in experiential retail for dogs. The Reddy store, at 125 Prince St in the Soho neighborhood of New York City, which opens today, will have a dog-friendly lounge.

FRESH THYME MARKET TO OPEN NEW CONCEPT STORE IN ST. LOUIS

Fresh Thyme Market, a full-service specialty retailer with 70 stores in 10 states throughout the Midwest, will open a new concept store with a focus on the community and local products on Nov. 10 at the historic City Foundry in St. Louis. The 27,000-square-foot Fresh Thyme Market at City Foundry STL will feature a vast assortment of fresh, local, natural and organic food, as well as national brand products at affordable prices.

    
SHELL TO ACQUIRE 248 C-STORES IN TEXAS

Shell Retail and Convenience Operations LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shell Oil Products US, has signed an agreement to acquire 248 company-owned fuel and convenience retail sites from the Landmark group of companies, whose convenience stores operate in Texas under the Timewise brand. The agreement also includes supply agreements with an additional 117 independently operated fuel and convenience sites.
