Maryland and Baltimore officials travel to Las Vegas for annual retail conference, WBAL
It's a meeting of the political minds in the gaming capital of the U.S. this week, and many are hoping they play their cards right to cash in on some development for the region. The governor, Baltimore county executive, and Baltimore mayor, along with many of their staffers, are heading to Las Vegas for the International Shopping Center Conference. A spokesman for the governor's office said he'll be there to discuss the Harborplace project as well as projects in Sparrows Point and around the Horseshoe Casino. It will cost $25,000 to send the governor and his team there and the spokesperson said it's critical to bringing development to the region. Article Link

Giant Food to open new grocery store in Baltimore County, Baltimore Business Journal
Giant Food will open a new store at a Baltimore County retail center, taking over an anchor space from another grocer that's set to close this summer. Landover-based Giant will open at Perring Plaza in Parkville in the second quarter of 2024 after renovations to the 55,000-square-foot space, said Felis Andrade, a spokeswoman for Giant, on Monday. The store will replace a Shoppers, which has been an anchor at the center for years but announced in early May that it was closing July 15 and laying off 49 workers. It marks the third time in the last year or so that Giant has taken over a former Shoppers space in the region. Coppermine looks to capitalize on pickleball craze with new venues, brand, Baltimore Business Journal
Coppermine is looking to capitalize on the pickleball craze with a new brand and two new venues geared specifically towards fans of the fast-growing sport. The growing Baltimore youth and amateur sporting company announced the launch of an adult-centric pickleball social brand called Copper Union last week. The brand will include a series of restaurant and entertainment venues along with events throughout the state. Article Link
