RITE AID DEBUTS FIRST OF ITS MAJOR STORE REMODELS

Four drugstores in Idaho are among the first of Rite Aid’s more than 2,400 stores to undergo a major remodel. “This is the future of Rite Aid,” Lydia Stroup, a RiteAid divisional vice president for retail, said in an interview at the company’s flagship Boise store at 1515 W. State St. “This is our new remodel, the start of a transformation.”

The first quarter marked BurgerFi’s first full period as a publicly owned company, and the better-burger chain did not disappoint. Systemwide same-store sales increased 4 percent compared to 2020. Much of that was driven by digital channels, which earned $13 million, or a 98 percent increase year-over-year.

The Vitamin Shoppe is pursuing a new growth strategy to expand its store fleet. The specialty vitamin and nutritional products retailer announced that, for the first time in its 44-year history, it will partner with business owners to operate franchise stores across the United States. The first franchised Vitamin Shoppe stores are expected to open later this year.

KFC sees the potential to triple in size in the coming years, especially in overseas markets, the Yum Brands fried chicken chain revealed in a Yum Global Investor Day Tuesday. This growth trajectory could yield more than the projected 4% annual unit growth for Yum. 90% of the company’s growth in the last five years has been from overseas markets.
