SCOPE IT OUT
How to design and build what's needed to meet organizational goals and strategies.
by: Curtis Skolnick, Managing Director
Planners are often asked to test a facilities concept, define how much space it will take, and determine how much it will cost to complete. These questions are useful in the early concept phase of a project, but the basis for planning is missing; what am I solving for, and how does this potential “bricks and mortar” solution meet a defined service, market, or strategic need of the organization? It’s all about scoping the right concept before getting too far down the facility planning phase.

Curtis Skolnick has 25 years of healthcare strategic and facilities planning experience and leads CBRE Healthcare’s Consulting Solutions team. His expertise lies in strategic master facilities planning (SMFP), project launch, launch gap analysis, market modeling, system and new business development, strategic planning, capacity analysis, CON preparation, operational and space programming, and government and regulatory affairs planning. As a skilled facilitator and consultant, Curtis’ provider experience gives him a unique understanding of client issues and needs. In his role at CBRE, Curtis utilizes his background in planning together with his analytical, organizational, and facilitation skills to provide a strategic focus and direction to CBRE’s healthcare clients. Being a planner and strategic thinker, Curtis likes to understand the reasons for developing new facilities and often contemplates the future implications of CBRE’s projects.
